The weather is cold. Some of you are snowed in. You can’t visit your grandchildren right now. But you can warm up the spiritual atmosphere by playing games with your grandchildren over the telephone or internet.
Here are 10 game suggestions you can play with your grandkids:
1) Bible Trivia. Have them guess the person, place, or thing in the Bible.
2) Fill in the blank. Example: Jesus’ hometown is __________. The answer is Nazareth. You can also play multiple choice.
3) Word Search. You might want to buy a Word Search book at Dollar General or Dollar Tree. Maybe buy two books. You can send one and keep the other one for reference when talking with your grandchild. You can ask how many words they found and help them find more words.
4) Etsy and maybe Amazon sell “Christmas Bible Family Feud.” Table topics You can get your children and the whole family involved.
5) Table Topics on the internet lists an assortment of grandparents and grandkids games.
6) Oriental Trading Company offers a Dry Erase Bible Bingo Game. Children love bingo!
7) You can play Bible Charades and Pictionary.
8) Bible Verse Detective is a good game. You can give clues to where the verse is listed. For example, you can have them guess, “Old Testament, or New Testament?”
9) You can send out 20 Bible Questions to your grandchildren. Check their work.
10) You can help your grandchildren take blankets to set up tents in their living room and get them to imagine what it was like to live as Abraham or Jesus. Make sure your children allow it.
Make it fun. You can use email or Zoom. Make sure your game is age appropriate. These games will make for warmer cold weather days and help bring spiritual growth in you and your grandchildren. Give this a try.
