Valentine’s Day Letters Your Grandchildren Will Treasure

Valentine’s Day is coming. Grandparent usually give their grandchildren a card with money or a gift.

Be different this year! Send out a Valentine’s Day letter they’ll remember.

There’s joy in celebrating Valentine’s Day. Our grandchildren celebrate the day with parties, candy and cupcakes at school. They exchange Valentine’s Day cards.

Valentine’s Day is forgotten two days later. Know what I mean?

Here are some tips to reach your grandchildren with a letter to make Valentine’s Day a more cherished memory:

1) Share your love for them.

2) Share a quality about their character that touches your heart.

3) Write a sentence as to how each grandchild touches your heart if you have many grandchildren. Send a letter to all. Let’s face it-you likely don’t want to write 20 separate letters to 20 different grandkids. That is a lot of labor on your part.

4) Tell them how to Lord worked in your life to give them the love your have for them. That’s sharing your faith in a gentle way, plus showing them your character.

5) Your grandchildren may see qualities you see in them. They may begin to appreciate each other, and appreciate each other more.

Your grandchildren will tend to remember these letters. Some may put your letters in safekeeping in order to refer to them later.

Here are some benefits:

– They’ll remember your relationship with them, that you reached out, and your kindness.

– They’ll think about your relationship with the Lord.

– They’ll see that you went deeper than the surface to note different character qualities you’ve seen
in them.

– You may have encouraged them to seek God.

Your grandchildren may not come to know the Lord Jesus as Savior through your kind gesture on this holiday. You continued to build relationships with them.

This is good. It takes on average seven times to present the Good News of Jesus in order for people to receive Christ.

My grandfather and step-grandmother lived 100 miles from my Baltimore home as I grew up. They’d travel to Baltimore to see my brothers, sister and me twice a year. I got to see what a good man and Christian my grandfather was because of his character. This played a role in me becoming a Christian at 21 years old.

Hebrews 13:16: “But to do good and to communicate, forget not: for with such sacrifices (offerings) God is well pleased.”

Reach out to your grandchildren in innovative ways to reach their hearts.
