A Closer Walk with Thee

There are many beautiful old-time hymns that deeply touch my heart. Many whose words move us and take us before our Lord as we worship and praise Him.

There is no doubt in my mind, that songs like “It is well with my Soul, I come to the Garden Alone, Amazing Grace, Blessed Assurance, Holy, Holy, Holy” are only a few.

However, of these wonderful and beautiful old songs I most frequently return to “A Closer Walk with Thee” it is a traditional gospel song that has been covered and performed by many artists over the years.

It has been performed both as an instrumental and as a vocal.
This one song, .. is perhaps the most frequently played number of hymns in the selection of traditional New Orleans jazz funerals and across the south.

I close my eyes as I prepare to worship my heavenly Father…
Holy is His name and worthy is He to be praised. It is here before the throne we all need to be both in our love, adoration and in thanksgiving.

I hear the words in my heart, and I am moved in humble adoration as I begin to pray.

I am weak but thou art strong, Jesus keep me from all wrong. I’ll be satisfied as long …. As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Don’t we all confess this as we come before our Lord and Savior? Are we not moved to remember that His blood has covered us, and that Abba created us? He… our Lord is strong, and it is upon Him we need to lean.

Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee. let it be, Dear Lord, let it be.

Ohhhhh yes . . . Dear Lord let this be my prayer too. Let me walk with Thee.

With the trials and tribulations we all face in today’s world Satan is grabbing at and for our very souls. Moral decay, mass murdering of babies, wars and threats of more war, horrible catastrophic disease, child abuse, and lives destroyed by drugs,
families torn apart and families left on the street. Church doors locked and Pastors in jail.

Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be…

This calling upon our hearts is one of desperation to be close to our Lord our MESSIAH and King.

Jesus, is God’s only Son who freely gave His life for ours. His blood poured from the wounds on His body, as He asked His Holy Father to forgive us for they know not what they do. The price of an innocent and holy Lamb freely given with life and blood.

overcome the filth of this world? Who are we that we should deserve this love, this gift? Do we think ourselves strong enough to

Shocking and sad if you are that foolish.

We, each of us must come closer to Jesus our Lord. Abba our heavenly Father gave Jesus all authority in heaven and on earth.

ALL POWER! This is called The Great Commission found in Matthew 28:16-20

My prayer is that each of us will have an unquenchable thirst to walk ever closer to our Lord Jesus . . . Knowing and understanding that we are weak, but He is strong.

Understanding that it is also Gods desire that we draw close to Him. We . . . you and I are His children, and His love is ours.
Jesus . . .  paid the price for us all.

Yes . . . let us all take a closer walk with Christ our Lord.

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

Most people call William Moorhead, “Papa Moose”. He brags that he is  married to an angel with her wings clipped. He and Marilyn have been married for nine years. Writing is something he never thought that he’d be called to do. However, God pricked his heart five years ago and he can’t put his pen down. He never knows what the subject will be or when God will stir his heart to write. It is Papa’s hope and prayer that his short stories will touch the hearts and minds of those who read them.
