Is following Jesus easy?

Matthew 25:35-43 “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’

The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

“Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’”

If following Jesus seems easy, it is because we haven’t followed him very far. Following Jesus always leads to the cross. Love is the clear and obvious mark for God’s people. However, only talking about God’s love creates all kinds of problems. When Jesus returns, He going to separate all people into two categories called sheep and goats, believers from unbelievers.

It doesn’t matter whether you have been to church 1000 times, or that you’ve read your Bible over and over, memorizing every verse, it doesn’t matter if you’ve prayed a 1000 prayers. It’s not what your mouth says but what your life does that matters! Only one of them never lies. God is not going to judge your good intentions, He’s going to judge your life.

When God’s grace comes into our lives, it ought to motivate us into action to become loving and giving people ministering to the lives of those in need. When we truly understand how God’s grace has helped us in our lives, we ought to be willing to show that to others.

That requires a humble spirit, a selfless attitude for the purpose of pouring ourselves out into the lives of others. You may have all the faith in this world, there’s much more to it than that, because without love you have nothing. God calls us to be sensitive to the needs of people. That is the reality of redemption, salvation and justification, in those which belong to the family of God. Good deeds are the outward sign of the inward reality of salvation. The fruit of salvation.

How can we, who have God’s life-changing message of Truth, be unwilling to reach out and help them, no matter who they are, because we’re afraid of offending them?

They could be hungry and in need of food, thirsty and in need of a drink, it could be someone in need of someone to come and visit them. May we make the necessary changes in our lives to make a difference in the lives of others.

May we never become so selfish, so self-focused on our own wants and needs, that we neglect the needs of those around us. Challenge yourself today to take the Good News to others not only with your words, but through your acts of love.
Brian Monzón grew up attending church with his grandmother. Through her actions, she impressed upon him the power of the prayers of the righteous, as she herself spent many hours kneeling before God, praying for her family and the needs of others. Besides being a pastor, Brian has been studying and teaching the Word of God for many years. He has devoted his life to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, praying with and for others, especially the unsaved. Brian is also a proud father of four children. He challenges them to be their best and has strived to raise his family up in church and on the Word of God. To discover more about Brian and his ministry please visit Brian Monzón Ministries.

Well mentioned Brian, Booker Washington once said: “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” My mother was always working hard on her farms and could
harvest a lot of crops and cereals. However, shortly after the
harvesting seasons, she could every time give relatives, friends and her workers
some of her farm products as they begged.

As a child, this stunned me very much and so, one day I asked mum
why she was always giving out so much for nothing. She responded by
asking me : ” If you hate giving, would you appreciate begging and
being given ?”. Before I said “NO”, I had already learnt by intuition
that Selflessness is a spiritual heritage and a blessing- as it
enables man to get enough supply for himself and fellow man

The scripture helps me understand this concept even better as it
writes: “God can bless you with everything you need, and you will
always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for
others”. (see 2 cor 9:8.) Contemporary English Version of the Bible.

Appostle Paul says; For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality (2 Cor8 :13,14)

Before I forget Brian, I love very much this part of the verse that says ; The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ According to other versions, EVEN THE LEAST OF THEM means ; EVEN THOSE WHO LOOKED UNIMPORTANT. It is human nature to hate fellowman. it is ignorance that every one was worderfully and purposefully created by God.
