Scripture and a Prayer: “Being A Living Example”

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)

Prayer:

Lord, while I am no longer a youth, I pray I can be a living example of You and of Your love, grace, and mercy in everything I say and in all that I do. Throughout this life I have had many trials, troubles, and difficulties. And You have seen me through and have comforted me through them all so that I can comfort others with this same comfort. But, to do this, I must realize that living this life isn’t about me and what I want, it is all about You and what You want. Therefore, Lord, help me be that living example of You in all that I say and do. AMEN

As I read this, I realize that often times when we go through things, we tend to focus our prayer on merely getting out or through our circumstances. We can sometimes forget to also ask God how He wants to use our circumstances to comfort those around us, as He brings us through and comforts us. We all know the scripture in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Well God’s purpose is always to impact the lives of those around us with the love of Jesus. When we remember that, it totally changes our perspective of our circumstances, putting our focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Thank you Debbie, I would also add 1 Corinthians 1:3-6 into that mix. Appreciate your response.
