There IS no weather!
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13
“There IS no weather!” That’s what veteran runner/trainer Leon Curry said when I told him I get up at 4:15 in the morning to train during the summer–before it gets too hot.
I don’t think Leon meant he ignores the weather; he just doesn’t let it have too much say.
He. Simply. Runs.
In other words: the joy is in the journey. What an amazing attitude!
As an experienced runner, Leon has undoubtedly seen his share of challenging conditions. Through the years, he’s battled injury, dodged traffic, and been chased by snarling dogs. But even so, Leon chooses to focus less on the conditions and more on his mission–to keep running and enjoy it.
The Apostle Paul would have liked my running buddy; the two of them share a common trait–
Passion
Just like Leon, Paul didn’t focus too much on the surrounding conditions, he just kept sharing Jesus with others. The love of Christ compelled him (2 Corinthians 5:14-15).
Paul was willing to put up with EVERYTHING because he found something (the Gospel) that meant more to him than ANYTHING.
