the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 13:16 ESV

A favoured Christmas card declares ‘peace on earth’. Yet there has been no peace on earth since Christ’s first advent. So are Christians false prophets by promising peace?

In context, there is peace on earth ‘to those on whom God’s favour rests’. Only some of us are favoured by God with supernatural peace. How do we get it? By crying out to God to give us it through Jesus.

Jesus went so far as to say, ‘do you think I came to bring peace on earth? I didn’t come to bring peace, but division.’ In other words, Jesus has split the world in two: between those who have peace with God, and those who don’t.

Classically, at the start of every new year, ‘Christian prophets’/charlatans declares that this is our year of divine favour. 2020 saw covid which put paid to false visions of health. 2022 saw the war in Ukraine which put paid to false visions of peace. False teachers will be exposed for the frauds they are.

‘God, forbid that we should teach falsely. May we be faithful to Your truth, in the name of Christ we pray, amen.’
