Creating Beautiful Messes as You Go
When the Jewish religious leaders tried to trap Jesus and discredit him in public, they asked, “Which is the greatest command?” Jesus responded with the Shema, which is a prayer that Jews pray twice a day from Deut 6:4-5.
However, Jesus did not stop with the Shema, he added a second commandment straight from God’s heart regarding loving all people. The short version: “Love God, Love People.” Simple. Pointed. Concise. Profound. Unattainable in our own power.
As you fill your buckets with the person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit, your inability to love people is overshadowed by the fruit of the Spirit. He takes up where you fall short and loves people rightly and completely through you, creating beautiful messes as you go. – Jimmy
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39
