LIONS 10, Jesus Followers 0

Does it seem like the scoreboard lately always reads: Lions 10, Christians 0? Does it seem we are outmatched and outmaneuvered?

Hear Jesus, “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master… If they have called the head of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they malign the members of his household.” (Matthew 10:24-25).

Jesus said they will treat us just like they treated him. We will not get a fair shake. Slights, wounds and opposition come with the territory. Jesus said in the next verse, “Do not fear them.” How do we do this?

I recall a time the scoreboard read: Enemy 1000’s, God’s Men 2. The Aramean army surrounded Elisha and his servant (2 Kings 6). The servant looked out the window at the mighty enemy army and thought, “We are trapped like rats. We are dead.” The man of God Elisha said, “Do not fear. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” The servant started counting those inside the house with a puzzled look, “One, Two.” He looked outside and counted, “12,234, 12,235, 12,236…” Finally, Elisha prayed that his servant’s eyes be opened, and he saw a mountain full of God’s horses and chariots of fire. The servant learned that 2 men plus God equaled a majority.

Yes, the visible battle rages before our eyes as does an invisible battle. The key is not the size of our challenges but recalling the size of our God. The battle is the Lord’s. Therefore, may we flinch not, whine not or play the victim. When the odds are against us, we press on, being of good cheer, knowing He has overcome the world.

There is always more going on than we can see with our eyes! God will take care of the scoreboard.

I DON’T CARE HOW HARD LIFE GETS, I’M NOT LOING MY FAITH IN GOD
