“The Real Spirit of Christmas”
By Dennis Lee
While all the talk this time of year is about the “Spirit of Christmas,” the real Spirit of Christmas isn’t what most people think. It isn’t about the feel-good positive vibe someone gets during this festive time of the year.
Nor is it the attributes that are on display, or at least are listed out like love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, giving, or even hope. While these attributes are great and all, they aren’t the real Spirit of Christmas.
The real Spirit of Christmas is no One less than the Holy Spirit. This is what heaven declared.
“The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God’” (Luke 1:35)
“This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:18)
Just as the power of the Holy Spirit overshadowed and formed the Son of God, Jesus Christ, inside of Mary, so the Holy Spirit, the real Spirit of Christmas, wants to overshadow and form inside of us His Temple, along with God’s plans and purposes for our lives.
We need to allow the Holy Spirit to conceive within us His special and unique promise. Just as the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, we need the Holy Spirit to impregnate us with the Lord’s dreams, visions, purpose and promises.
Wouldn’t you love for God’s power to overshadow you and meet your greatest need, solve your most insolvable problem, and bring forth victory in an area of your life that you’ve been utterly helpless to achieve?
It can happen. Why, because while with men it’s impossible, with God all things are possible. The angel said to Mary, “For nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)

Pastor Dennis is a prolific writer, however, his spirit filled messages on Sunday mornings prohibits me from taking notes, as I don’t want to miss a word of his message!
His personal relationship with our Lord is reflected in every thought and word. He helps our church family move forward in our relationships with our Lord, and I for one, am so grateful and thankful that the Holy Spirit abides in Him.
Thank You Pastor Dennis
Thanks for a wonderful and uplifting comment Stephania! I for two, feel the same way. God Bless!
Thank You Stephania, but as always it is the Lord who is in control, and always the one to get the glory. It was good seeing you on Sunday and feeling better. Take care and God bless
