A Creator’s Love

I know every bird of the mountains, and everything that moves in the field is Mine.

PSALM 50 : 11 (NASB)

Yesterday I was rummaging through some old belongings in a cupboard when I found something that stopped me in my tracks, it looked like a folded piece of paper but the colorful handwriting on it told me it was more than a bit paper. As I opened it up, I smiled as I recognized my daughters’ writing on a card, she made for me when I was in hospital with my first brain tumor. Folded within it was a lovely blue and yellow collage of “a butterfly for you dad!” It is the most beautiful and precious butterfly that I have ever seen.

As I remembered those days and the hands of my daughter making this card with love it made me reflect on the beauty of butterflies and the meadows that they fly across. I remember warm summer days in the fields and woodland just outside of the village where I grew up; the sweet melodious song of warblers, the rustle of birch trees, the rhythmic crickets and the graceful butterflies waltzing from wildflowers to trees and back again. The love of my daughter in that tough time for the family reminds me of the love of Father God in all things, in Creation and in our trials. As a rainbow reminds us of His promise the birds, bees and butterflies remind us also of His care for Creation…and how much more He loves us.

Dear reader, I was blessed to be reminded by Father God of His love for me by the artwork of my nine-year-old daughter for her dad. What has He laid before you recently, maybe even today, to remind you of His love for you? Is it a long-forgotten memory or just the sight of His Creation out a window; either one can be a call from your Father God to touch your heart today.
