In God’s Image:

what the New Testament teaches about being a man

Author/Journalist Derek Maul invites Christian men of all denominations to set aside their assumptions, their presumptions, and their preconceptions, to become better acquainted with God’s Word, to get to know the character of Jesus, and to enter into a conversation about what it means to live as beings created in the image of God. “In God’s Image” is a ready-to-use 8-week study, designed to pose the following question: “Are you motivated, confident, hesitant, skeptical, convicted, or simply curious? Regardless, we all need to share in this exchange of ideas about faith, and consider our decision to follow Jesus.” The study includes inspirational readings, challenging study questions, an easy to follow small-group outline, and a challenge to engage our calling to live as passionate followers of Jesus, as well as to seek the fellowship of other men who are motivated to live beyond the cultural stereotypes that confine our walk and stifle our witness. 5.0 out of 5 stars Just what is needed today.

This book presents a model, needed today. It centers on becoming a disciple. It is not about learning more, it is about being more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authenticity  A few months ago, the dozen or so guys in the men’s Bible study group I’m in at my church completed our study from Derek Maul’s “In God’s Image.” Its lessons still speak strongly. You see, Derek’s book showed us men how to be authentic in our search for what it means to be modeled to live as the apple of our Creator’s eye. Readers will be helped to learn who they are at the deepest level. It is hard for men to be authentic because we don’t want to appear to be insufficient. “But,” Derek reminds us, “it’s Jesus who is sufficient, not us.” Also, as a lay preacher, I am getting some great sermon material from this book.

Beach and Beyond

5.0 out of 5 stars Us guys living in today’s complicated world are often left wondering what is takes to be a good Christian man–as God intended …and while staying true to ourselves… this book will help you find answers. Written in Derek’s typical folksy, down-to-earth style– it’s great story telling– with plenty of references to scripture that support his main points. Perfect for a men’s bible study or even a solo read. You will want to share it with your buddies, your brother, and your dad. Derek’s book is another winner!

Derek is a North Carolina-based writer, journalist, teacher and speaker. He is the author of numerous books on what the Bible reveals as essential in becoming a man of God.

He is convinced that his four grandchildren are exactly the hope and promise that this world needs. His conviction is important to understand because it reveals a lot about his theology, and how he believes our identity as God’s children plays out in the day-to-day experience of living in a world where darkness, disappointment, and defeat are all too common.

He is a committed encourager, and a pilgrim in progress. He divides his time between writing and traveling to speak about the fully engaged life. His passion is to connect people – men and women – with a more vibrant, authentic experience of what he calls “The Life-Charged Life.”
